Barleywine Ale aged in oak barrels

Silence is an interesting notion. It can convey a miriad of emotions. It can mean anger, happieness, sadness. The silent reflection after a long day sounds exactly the same as the brooding quiet after receiving some earth-shattering news.

Many have said the language of the Divine is silence. One those who can shield their minds from the distractions of the world, can hear these communications.

We brewed this beer with the idea of each sip followed by a contemplative pause. Maybe this quiet will inspire your next life decision. We're going to stop talking now.

In late 2019, we teamed up with Don't Drink Beer to create Don't Drink Barleywine, which turned out phenomenal. So much so, we thought to put some in bourbon barrels to age for a spell. What evolved became Infinite Silence. Over a year in bourbon has taken this English-style Barleywine and infused it with an increased level of caramel and vanilla, while adding a richness to the back-end.

Poured from a 2021 vintage 750 ml bottle. Aroma is rich and malty with lots of toffee, tootsie rolls, caramel and burnt sugar. Lighter notes of toasted bread and nuts. Light bourbon and alcohol notes with hints of oak. Pours a slightly murky, brown color with auburn hues and a small, thin, tan head that recedes quickly and disappears. No lacing and fairly long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of caramel, toffee and burnt sugar. Lighter notes of tootsie rolls, toasted bread and hints of nuts. Medium bitterness and medium light alcohol notes. Light bourbon and alcohol notes with hints of oak. Mouthfeel is full bodied with low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid English barleywine. Really nice malt profile and complimentary bourbon notes. Alcohol is well balanced and not overly strong. I like that the ABV isn't crazy high.
