750 ml bottle poured into a Bruery tulip. As Schlafly English-Style Old Ale (Culinaria). 2013 vintage. Bought at Schlafly Bottleworks during RBSG 2014. Clear dark copper/amber with half a finger of beige head. Aromas of caramel, biscuit, malt, light spices. Tastes of caramel, malt, some citrus, sweet spices, biscuits with honey. Medium body with a dry finish. Alcohol fairly well masked. Sweet but not too rich, just right. Nice old ale.

As ’Old Ale ’ . Pours clear, dark copper . Smell is a bit sweet . Unintense though . Taste is a bit bitter , full grainy sweetness . Earthy and fruity notes . Some booze in the finish .

Cask. Deep clear ruby amber color, off white big bubble edge head. Aroma of tiasted caramel. Taste has port wine, cherry, burnt caramel. Good winter beer.

750ml bottle poured into an English Pint. Pours a clear light brown with a small bit of white head that disappears almost immediately. Aroma of cinnamon and orange zest with a hint of caramel. Taste is light sweet. Baking spices with a little citrus and light caramel. Medium bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad...but the Christmas ale is a lot better!

750ml bottle-pours a foamy tan head and copper color. Aroma is medium malt-roasty/cocoa/spices. Taste is medium malt-roasty/cocoa/spices, some hops bite. Finishes semi dry. OK effervescence.

Bottle shared by Jcwattsrugger. Pours dark brown. Off white head. Nose of toffee, spice and caramel malts. Taste is the same. Same alcohol in finish. Full mouth feel.

Bottle picked up in St. Louis. Pours a nice reddish amber with a massive head and a fizzy soda-like carbonation. Aromas are fairly bland... a little bit of a mixed fruit and brown sugar/caramel sweetness is about it. As best I can tell, this bottle was from last year’s batch, so it has a little bit of age on it. Flavor is a decent enough mix of thick and sugary malt, a little bit of spicing and some fruit tones that balance things out. It sits a little sticky and heavy, but is enjoyable.

bottle, thanks to Keir, pours amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is toffee and carmel with lots of sweetness. Flavor is carmel malt and toasted nuts with a lightly spiced finish of cinnamon. Nice brew.

Pour is a dark brown with a big tan head. Aroma is brown sugar and molasses with a bit sour apple and toffee. That was pretty good. Flavor is again a little bit of apple and toffee with some alcohol. Leaves a little chocolate/cherry on the tounge after the swallow. A damn fine beer but once its gone its gone.
