Deep dark brown coloured body with a relatively thin, single to perhaps two centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, a touch of chocolate and a deeper nutty and earthy bite towards the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Medium-bodied; Strong grainy and super roasted malt flavours dominate with some light nutty and peanut buttery type flavours at first that slow to a more subdued chocolate and earthiness along with a touch of caramelised sugar towards the end with little else. Aftertaste shows a pungent bitterness from the malts with a lot of burnt and caramelised sugar finishes without too much hops or bitterness. Overall, a decent enough Black IPA, but not great - it shows the character fairly well, but a bit too single dimensional in terms of profiles for this to be considered good or great. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Ciy), Virginia on 08-January-2019, sampled at home in Washington on 11-January-2019, just three days later.

$2.10 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours very dark brown, nearly black (could say black except I see through the very bottom of the glass). Small tan head. Aroma is grapefruit, roasted barley, orange peel. Flavor is orange peel, slightly burnt malt, earth, light fennel. I do like black IPAs; this one is good, not great.

Draught @ Draught 55. Inky black with small foamy tan head, faint caramel aroma, medium carbonation, bitter roasted malt taste with alcohol undertones, thin body, long bitter brnt finish. A bit too heavily roasted.
