Keg at Top Hops - NYC. Pours black with a dense, lasting beige cream head. Good, sturdy roasted malt nose with notes of burnt pine and cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with charred cedar, dark chocolate, chicory, slight orange rind, burnt toffee, minerals. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and silky texture. Lightly resinous on the finish with further charred malts, burnt wood, cocoa, dried fruits, oily pine. A very respectable CDA.

Keg at Beer Run, 11/4/14. Pours near black with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of floral, herbal hops, mild roasted malt, nutty notes. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, bitter green, herbal hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, lingering bitterness, decent balance.

Very well done and generally another knock out beer for these guys. Comes close to their excellent porter. Do a few things but do them well. I like the theory. Pours black with mocha head and lacing. Bitter finish. Citrus hops evident. Thick consistency. Tap at RFD.

Draft pour at Novemberfest 2014. Poured a black color with a small tan head. Aroma was some nice pine notes, light roast. Flavor was very nice pine hop notes, with a lack of that burnt bitter character you get from so many different black IPAs.
