Draft from the UWS shake shack. Looked and tasted like a less brown more pale standard brooklyn lager.

Pour is a cloudy orangeish with a large white head. Aroma is a faint whiff of some hops. Flavor is some orange peel bittering hops and a chalky malt backbone. It's a fine pale ale I guess better with a burger but I was burgerless at the time.

Can: Poured a brown/golden color ale with a nice off-white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of caramelized malt with some resinous hops notes. Taste is a mix of caramelized malt notes with some resinous and bitter hoppy notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable old school pale ale with some hoppy bitterness and dry caramelized malt.

Notes from June 2009 22oz growler from New Beer. Only available at the Shake Shack & at that joke of a Shake Shack in Citi Field. Note: Citi Field itself is awesome. Well, that random Verizon store in center field sucks too. Can't buy any edible chocolate phones or beer coozies disguised as the latest model cell. Also, I consider it the best of the four exclusive Brooklyn beers served there: this, Blue Smoke Ale, Blanche de Queens(bdBrooklyn relabel), & Sabroso Ale. Pours out a filtered honey amber. Decent plop of thin, eggshell head, with a random, infrequent splattering of lace. Smells is big on crackers & lemon zest. Scents of wheat & yeast move it in an unexpected, but interesting direction. Fresh, leafy & zesty hops continue to make things interesting. Taste is again crackermeal, but with a much more pronounced herbal bitterness. A layer of rind in the middle, finishing a little husky, tinny, & very, very, dry. ..and yes(letting other reviews influence me), I do notice the minty(think wintergreen) aspect. I get that with dirty, cakey tubes sometimes, but this joint's hoses were clean. Just something going on with the hops I figure. Didn't throw off the score too much. It leeched off when it warmed up. Carbonation is low to moderate. Frothy throughout. Beer almost takes on a wheaty feel. Exclusive & expensive aren't great characteristics for a pale ale to have. Only at the Shake Shack for a middle of Manhattan pint price, or $7.50 at Citi Field. I think I payed $3 for a 22oz at New Beer.

Im eleganten Shake Shack Pappbecher in London. Bisschen Hopfen, Getreide, sehr viel Schaum, etwas wässrig, aber okay.

Tap. Shake Shack, Leicester Sq. Aroma is malty, citrusy. Clear amber. Frothy foamy white head. A sour citrus streak. Burnt caramel. Light gains. Malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick..Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish..Nice enough.
