Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. The lambic for this brew comes from the Boon (Lembeek) brewery, according to the original recipe of Henri Vandervelden, the founder of Oud Beersel.

Drunk at the Bierhaus in Beersal. More woody aroma from the barrel. Stunning golden colour. Vanilla in the taste, perhaps from barrel again. It has quite a thin ending though. Nice geuze.

Tart and very dry. Geuze is such a fascinating flavor for me. So bizarre yet so enjoyable.

Clear pale blond colour with lasting head from the strong carbonation. There's elements of citrus to this with the bitter sharpness of 'real lemonade' and some lemon rind. The acidity is just right. This may not have the funk and complexity of some of its peers but the balance is very good. Mineraly, grainy backbone. Delicate sharp tang. Dry finish.
