Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. The lambic for this brew comes from the Boon (Lembeek) brewery, according to the original recipe of Henri Vandervelden, the founder of Oud Beersel.

At a tasting, many thanks, small bubbly head, quite clear deepish orange color, aroma of sewer minerals and sour bread, flavor of stink, brown bread and minerals with some apple fruitiness and a metalic hint. Nice and quite easy to drink.

Pours a hazy golden-orange colour with a fizzy warm cap that disappears quickly, leaving no lace. Woodsy aromas with a bunch of apples and hints of vinegar. The taste has some sourness, but well-blended with the rest - funky wild yeast giving earthy tones, apples, white grapes and some light wood. Pretty mild overall, but seems well-brewed.

Bottle 2014 at Luppolo Station (Rome). Hazy golden color, regular white foam. Nose: lemon grass, citronella. Mouth: easy, a bit thin, the overall is pretty simple but the finish is grapefruit and tart. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
