Draft. A dark brown beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of candy sugar, malt, wood, and whiskey. The flaovr is sweet with notes of candy sugar, prunes, wood, whiskey, caramel sauce, and malt, leading to a dry finish.

A very welcome discovery last week at Susan's Fine Wines in Santa Fe, NM, which always has a great selection. A Norwegian quadrupel that is whiskey barrel-aged? Sign me up. It appears this 33 cl bottle was put up in December of 2018. I'm motivated enough to get out my Straffe Hendrik snifter for this one. The pour is of a very dark brown, almost black liquid with a representative skim of fine, tan foam which promptly disappears. The scent is, wow, more like an imperial stout than a quad. Very much the whiskey presenting itself, caramel and a bit of dark fruit, I am intrigued before I take a drink. And now I do, Wow again, this is really good. Black plum, wheat bread, booze, chocolate, toffee, vanilla, raisins and some bitterness accompanying. Top flight, a first class quadrupel.

Svart. Mokkafarget skum langs glasset. God lakrisaroma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken marsipan, sjokolade, kokos & lakris. Balansert. Kakao i ettersmaken. Alkoholen merkes ikke - på smaken.

Bottle. Clear, almost totally black body with a dense beige head. Strong and boozy aroma in a nice way, lots of strong, dark roasted malt, chocolate, oak, vanilla, dry fruit and smooth whisky. Flavor has the same indigence as found in aroma, quite sweet but in balance with the bitterness and alcohol. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste with quite much chocolate and whisky. Like a pastry stout for grown ups.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color.. Caramel, dried fruit and whisky in the aroma. Malty sweet, caramelly, alcoholic flavor with lots of whisky and dried fruit. Has thinned by the barrel aging. Still smooth. Nice one.
