This Vietnamese-Style Coffee Stout is inspired by the popular Vietnamese coffee drink called “Ca Phe Sua Da” (cah-fe sah dah). It's a thick and decadent brew just like a coffee milkshake and contains brown sugar and cream extract.

473 ml can from Hasegawa Liquors, Tōkyō Station. Pours dark brown with abundant brown foam on the top. In a few minutes nothing left of it though. Nose has lots of sweet but fresh coffee, light roast and lots of cocoa and bitter chocolate. Light lacto. Tastes sweet, more of that liquid bitter chocolate and some sweet lacto added to the morning coffee. Super smooth, alcohol is nowhere to be felt. Afertaste turns somewhat drier, some coffee there and light roat in the linger. Bit too sweet overall but otherwise well brewed.

16 oz can from Growler Guys CDA. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, butthole, dark bread. Buttholes disappear, and that is true here. Pours blacker than a butthole with a one finger tan head that falls into a ring after a minute. Taste is sweet, roasty, a bit acidic. Nothing wrong with mouthfeel in this day and age. A good beer, my fellow chapatheans.

Pours mahogany tinged black into an English pint. Mocha head with little retention crackles and recedes to hug rim. Sweet vanilla and espresso aromas. Thick and dry with sweet chocolate and vanilla upfront front to back. Too sweet and cloying.

9/IV/19 - 1Pt. can from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ home, BB: 28/VIII/19 - (2019-453)
Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, falls down quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of coffee, more coffee, bit malty, some caramel, banana touch. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, overripe banana, lots of alcohol, lots of coffee, soft acidity, little bitter. Aftertaste: lots of alcohol, ripe banana, bit roasted, sugary, some chocolate, more coffee. Not a huge fan, because coffee. But definitely a very nice beer!
