Cask (backlog). Deep brown colour, small head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, vanilla, liquorice and some toast. Flavour is very similar with some toffee, cocoa and mild whiskeylike sweetness.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival in KEGS! Opaque dark brown beer, decent bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light and dry. Dry floral notes. Dry cinnamon. Sweet dried fruits, orange oils. Finishes dry with a modicum of malt. Typically over spiced Christmas beer and too dry as well but didn’t hate it.

Cask @ Angleterre, Helsinki

Pours pitch black with a small bubbly head. Aroma of roasty malts, mint notes, hints of licorice and anise. Taste is smooth, mildly roasty with a lot of salty licorice, tar, hints of wood, mint and anise. Smooth and mildly spicy finish with notes of roastiness, licorice and mint. A bit unbalanced and strange, couldn’t really find the bourbon here.

(Cask at Kuikka, 20130220) The beer poured black. Its head was small, lightly brown, bubbly and long lasting. Aroma had vanilla, roasted malts and chocolate. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, clove, allspice, sweetness, roasted malts, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste had cough mixture, burnt malts and bitterness. Aroma was pleasant but the taste was initially weird and eventually quite bad.

Cask at the Guide Dog, Southampton. Deep chocolate brown in colour with a loose beige head; soft, chocolate malt aroma; rich in the mouth, with dry, deeply roasted malts, and some sweet boozy fruit; the finish is warming and woody, with a definite spirity edge. This is rather good.

Cask (Guide Dog, Southampton) - Black in colour. Plain chocolate, coffee and roasted malt in the aroma. Roasted taste with notes of liquorice, roasted malt, coffee and plain chocolate. The bourbon notes are subtle and not really that noticeable to me.
