Cask@Angleterre, Helsinki. Reddish amber colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is dark fruits, mild smoke as well as some mild toasted malts. Flavour is being rather much the same, leaving a slight baconlike aftertaste.

[Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading.] Amber with a loose cream head; smokey aroma - reminiscent of a wet autumn bonfire; assertive sharp bitter taste with an underlying smokiness; and a long bitter finish. Not sure I’m a fan of this style.

On gravity at the Portcullis, Bristol 14/12/08. Dark brown with plenty of reddish undertones and a moderate, off-white head. Lightly smoked aroma, with some dark fruit, caramel and a hint of citrus hops/ Flavour had some sweet honeyed malts, with a smoky edge, a touch of spice and a decent bitter finish. A very good English interpretation of the style.

(From old notes. Cask at Pikkulintu on 2007-12-31.) The nose and taste both contain clear smoke aroma. Nice hops in taste which has got some roasted malt in it, too. Towards the end I think I began to taste even burned malt there which was a bit annoying.

Cask handpull at The Rake, Borough Market. A bit like a German Rauch but mixed with a good deep dark best bitter. Great condition.

Cask@Beer Hunters, Pori
Dark ruby red color, creamy expresso head, lace. Not much smoke in the nose first, more when beer warms to room temperature, more aroma is flowery hoppy. Quite hoppy, some tar and smoke, but more bitter hoppy than relative of Bavarian rauchbier. Long bitter aftertaste with touch of sweetness and smoke. Not bad by any means but could be so much more.
