440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9.5%. Hazy reddish brown colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Aroma of toffee, molasses, caramel / fudge, alcohol, hints of dried figs. Smooth flavour, mainly the same elements as the aroma, but not so much molasses, and not too sweet. Decent bittering hops. Nice to drink.

440ml can from Vinmonopolet Bergen Storsenter. Upper part lacing from a covering white head. Misty amber-orange body. Promising caramel malty aromas, hints of dried fruits. Quite well blended taste of dried fruits, orange, and caramel malts. A welcome piney touch to a long-lived malt-fruity ending. Last nightcap after five happy days in Bergen and Os. (Hotel room, Bergen 13.06.2022).

Can ordered from Ghost Whale, Putney. Aroma citrus and for a marmalade effect. A hint of resin. Opaque amber brown. Fluffy foamy off-white head. Medium-heavy bitter. Boozy. Resinous. Light citrus edge. A real boiled sugary streak. Punchy yet sugary marmalade. Light bodied. Slick. Lazy soft-fizzy carbonation. Long astringent finish. Yep.

Can from Great Grog. Hazy amber body with thin by flecks beneath a thick beige head. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of honey, marmalade, caramel and golden syrup. Flavour of black pepper, gingerbread, blood orange and menthol. Medium to full body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. An intense barley wine - peppery and full flavoured.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 18/02/22. Hazed orange amber with a good sized egg shell white head that stays for the show. Nose is fruit cake mix, caramel, figs, dates, stewed fruits, brown sugar coating, dusty hops. Taste comprises caramel, dates, light candied fruits, kiss of booze, raisins, dates, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light ripple of alcohol. Decent fresh and easy drinking barley wine.

Can from BS webstore. It pours clearish orangey - brown with a decent beige head. The aroma is rich maltage, sweet, sticky, brown bread, malt loaf, toffee, touch of tangy marmalade, malt loaf, ginger cake, wood, nut and leather. The taste is firmly dry, pleasing bitterness which lingers throughout, woody, pine, prickly, leather, light tannin, toothy, warming spice, ginger cake, malt loaf, earthy, leafy, toasty and a some alcohol warmth with a drying finish. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Enjoying the bitterness to it. Moreish.
