We’ve all heard of putting the lime in the coconut. But what about putting the strawberry in the imperial stout? Seems like a totally awesome sequel right? And don’t stop there…maybe add a little vanilla (ok ok a lot of vanilla…like liters and liters) and why not layer in some ‘creaminess’ in the form of lactose (WARNING- this beer contains LACTOSE).
Now we’re cooking with gas here 🔥

This stout is so big and strong that it took two mashes to create. It’s huge, it’s intimidating and it will pummel you. This is the kind of stout that can jump off the top ropes with its signature flying elbow. But it’s not all mean and nasty, this stout has a real personality- a rather flamboyant one to boot. A true raconteur and a fabulous dresser. It’s not afraid to cover itself in strawberries and paint the town red.
It’s not an imperial stout, it’s a ‘macho’ stout (thanks Alex) and we call it ‘Candy Savage’ (thanks Turkman)

‘Candy Savage’ (11.5%) Macho Stout with Strawberries and Cream
It’s a stout, but it smells and tastes like a Campino and it has an awesome collection of sunglasses

Murky dark brown body and no foam, pretty ugly. Smells like black forest cake, a little wet, too soft and muddled. Taste is excellent strawberry and chocolate, a little syrupy yet also somehow finishing thin. No sign of the alcohol which is great, but feels janky nonetheless.

Chestnut brown and a bit murky. Thin head. Full body. Dark chocolate. Alcohol, lots of strawberries. The berries balance well with the chocolate, it makes sense in a dessert way.

Can from the brewery
Black colour. Strong aroma of strawberry and sweet chocolate, strong candy vibe. Medium body (read, thinner than the modern average North American Imperial Stout); cheap chocolate flavour, some cacao, strawberry jam, at least the alcohol is not too evident.
Weird.

473mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is super sweet, with lots of strawberry, lactose, and some cocoa. Flavour is very sweet, lots of strawberry, sweet lactose, and a little cocoa. Sweet, syrupy, cloying. Not really my thing at all.

16oz (thx, Alex!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: strawberries, roasted malts, some lacto. Reminds those strawberry candies. Taste: along the same lines, moderately to highly sweet, some roasted malts aftertaste. Overall: not bad for what it is.

Poured from 473mL can. Near black with small beige head. Artificial strawberry, vanilla, lactose, light roast. Very artificial candy quality provides a very cheap quality. Underwhelmed, not a fan. Would not pay for a full can myself - totally overpriced.

Jet black brown with a small light brown head. Strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. Vanilla and strawberry with a long rich finish. Interesting but a bit artificial and kids candy like.
