Lite för sur, inte tillräckligt rökig

Almost clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Smooth airy palate, pretty light and with decent fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, a nice soft dark malt cream. Mild tangy dark chocolate. Nice soft fruity whiskey. Really soft. Surprisingly (as in ‘woo fuckin’ hooo’), no band aids, no acrid peat, nuffin. Great! Smooth finish just brings a light savoury vibe. Very drinkable for Barrel used, very very drinkable.

Jet-black beer with some ruby sheen and small cream-beige rim. End of bottle solid yeast. Red berries, cherries, old wood, fusels, chocolate, boozy nose... but no Islay signs. Sweet, wood, very light hint at smoke, if saying "peat" would be exaggerated. Again red berry/cherry streak, as a dry cherry-based liqueur. Chocolatemalt. Very full-bodied (even outstanding for a bottom-fermented beer at 23° Pl), viscous, chewy. Serious alcoholwarming. Nice one, as expected, but I would have sought more Islay here - even from a more 'mild' distillery as Bowmore.

Pours black, small, lightly tanned head. Smell is mild peat, chocolate. Taste is sharp, roasty, mild peat. All and all on the sweet side, hiding most of the peat.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of smoke, licorice, chocolate, peat, vanilla, molasses and oak. Taste of rich peated smoke, oaky vanilla, chocolate, bitter licorice, tarr, raisin, subtle cherry and a long complez finish. Love how this is not just smokey peated scotch, but also displays a lot of other, sweeter flavors. Great beer.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Roast, licorice, caramel, but also some soft peaty notes in the aroma and flavor. Alcohol. Good enough, but quite sweet, I expected more peat.
