【醸造家の声】
カリフォルニア・アナハイムにあるBottle Logicとのコラボレーションがようやくお目見えです。というのも、彼らと一緒にこのビールを造ったのは東京でのイベント、ミッケラービアセレブレーションで来日していた2019年9月のこと。造ったのは、天然のブラウンシュガーと沖縄の黒糖を投入し、約16時間の煮沸(!!)を施したインペリアルスタウト。ここまでの長時間煮沸を施すという初めての試みの結果、複雑味がぐっと増し、アルコール度数が驚くほど上がりました。出来上がった全量を国産ウィスキーの貯蔵で使われていた樽に入れ、27ヵ月間(!!)の熟成を行いました。さて、木樽内で2年以上の年月を経たビールはどのように変化したでしょうか。私たちがこれまで造ったインペリアルスタウトの中では群を抜いて深い味わいと複雑さ、そしてパンチの効いた飲みごたえを感じられるものになりました。

[Naming]
Three muskateers visited our brewery from Bottle Logic in California and joined forces with our three muskateers to create three versions of this swashbuckling beer.
[Brewer's Voice]
At long last our collaboration with Bottle Logic from Anaheim, California, is ready for release! The base beer was brewed together in September 2019 when our friends were in town for the Mikkeler Beer Celebration Tokyo. Special ingredients include Okinawan brown sugar as well as natural brown sugar and a 16 hour boil provided extra complexity and a higher ABV. The entire batch was put into domestic whiskey barrels and aged for 27 months, producing what is by far the most complex and intense Imperial Stout we have made to date. We look forward to sharing this labor of love with you!

Bottle from the brewery, almost 2 years old. Big nose of vanilla, chocolate, caramel, biscuity malt. Black, oily, with lace. Flavor is rich marshmallow, coconut, chocolate, vanilla. Rich and delicious, and I think better than the ones with additives.

Blackest of beers with a tiny, very very dark head. Thick AF body. intense molasses, sweet, bourbon, light vanilla, melted chocolate, oak. Finish is long and sweet. The 12% is obvious but also well hidden. Dang, this is a beauty.

Jet black pour with a tiny tan/red head. Opening the bottle feels the room with whisk(e)y aromas of oak, vanilla, orange peel, toffee, cocoa, sweet bread, dried fruit/raisins, red berries. Tastes of dark cocoa, orange marmelade, vanilla, fruit cake, some coffee and oak This is very good stuff. ABV carries the taste nicely, very smooth aftertaste.

KBC x Bottle Logic Kodama: Sanjushi (Three Musketeers) BA Imperial Stout 12% Rainy weather had me decide to drink this tonight. Deep viscous inky black our with a wisp of fizzy rusty purple foam. Rich toffee maple aroma with dark chocolate syrup and sharp oaky vanilla and boozy heat. Very full bodied and luscious mouthfeel brown here silky smooth. Loads of heat. Very sweet, syrupy, maple and bourbon. Loads of heat and warmth in the pit of my belly. Great, enjoy with dessert and it is well worth aging longer. Which is what I’ll do with my other bottle.
