Can picked duo at Marshall's farm shop, Aberdeenshire. It pours hazy deep red - brown with a decent off - head. The aroma is deep maltage, brown bread , dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, some cherry, toasted brown sugar, toffee, some liquoricey Tullibardine whisky character, some permanent, jammy, vinous and Scottish tablet. The taste is slick, thick, oily, chewy, bitter - sweet, super fruity, berry and dried fruits, sultana, cherry, cranberry, prune, fruit cake, warming booze, cherry cola, Dr Pepper, vinous, jammy, umami, liquorice allsorts, permanent marker pen and whisky soaked oak with a drying, fairly short finish. Medium - fulsome body and fine carbonation. Interesting stuff for sure. Plenty to it. Not 100% in love with the liquoricey/marker pen vibes, but it's a nice beer nonetheless.

Can from Cork & Cask. Ruby body with a beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of treacle and dark chocolate. Flavour of Dr Pepper, flat coke and heavy alcohol with a boozy, whisky finish. Medium to full body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. It’s very strong and boozy. I think I’d have preferred a non barrel-aged version.
