We have Found that our Imperial IPA, Halcyon, provides a fantastic canvas for different fruit additions that really accentuate the big tropical characters already present from the generous hopping we use. Blood orange seemed like a perfect one to use, with its distinctive sweetness balancing beautifully with the grapefruit and tangerine character already present. The dry and thirst quenching bitterness in the finish makes this a fantastically balanced beer.

Canned (from Alko Web). Hazy orangeish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is herbal, some earthy, mild bready and some slight tartish citrus too. Flavour is citrus, blood orange, mild tartness and some slight malty tones. A bit obscure.

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Clear amber, small head. Aroma of blood orange juice. Mid sweet with medium to full body and rounded mouthfeel. One can sense the beauty if Thiornbridge's malt somewhere behind all that blood orange juice. I would much have preferred a Halcyon tonight and a blood grape juice in the morning, rather than mixing the two.

Can, small stable bubbly head, cloudy and a touch intense orange color, aroma of blood orange and apricot with a bit of onion, flavor of orange blossom, orange, peach and apricot, medium mellow citrusy bitterness, light to medium bodied. Really good and enjoyable.

Can 440ml (Alko web)
Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Some blood orange, even yeastyness in the nose. Light-bodied. Blood orange, grapefruit, pale malts, watery finish. Quite boring as DIPA.

hazy orange colour, medium sized dense off-white head; aroma of sweet orange, tangerine, slight lyophilized strawberry and yeasty-wine cellary notes; taste is similar to the aroma; a bit unbalancedly sweet, otherwise ok

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Soft haze on a gingery gold. Thin and fairly dense, lasting white foam. Looks the beans. Nose has ripened citrus and sweaty yeast. Pulped orange. Blood orange twang. Bright malt notes. Taste has bittersweet orange and biscuit malt sweetness. Smooth and easy drinking. Fine brisk carbonation. Lingering pithy orange peel bitterness on the finish. Actually tastes like Halcyon first time round, which for me is a very good thing.
