Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with toffee, dried fruits, suggestions of dark & red fruits, rich caramel. Flavour is sweet with a decent bitterness, booze is there but not too pervasive. Body is slightly above medium. Lacks a little refinement, but it's a fairly pleasant Barley Wine.

A below average barleywine no doubt. But not horribly off. Boozy and a bit thin and ashy, lacking the full bodied dried dark fruit complexity. Arendsnest ams

Bottle. Hazy purple brown pour. Aroma of raisin, vanilla, oak, caramelised malt, figs, dates and some herbs. Taste has bitter raisin, caramelised malt, booze, vanilla, dates, figs, caramel, bitter herbs and some yeast. Not bad, bit messy perhaps, but I like the strong flavor.

No head on a dark reddish brown still body. Huge aroma of malt, stewed fruit & toffee. Full bodied, smooth, greasy & oily on the tongue with a sticky back. Malt, demerara, syrup, jam, toffee & stewed fruit tastes. Definitely tasty.

Almost clear reddish amber beer, a small bubbly pale tan head. Nose doesn’t start great for me, touch of rubber in there, it burns off a little, needs to breathe a bit. Palate is quite light:”, semi dry and has a surprising fine crispness. Fairly thin malts for the style but delivering plenty of flavour. A little toffee and cream. Ripe spicy fruits, touches of fig and prune. A light crisp spicy finish that is also warming. I like the way this barley wine packs a lot of flavour into a light and crisp palate.
