1 liter swingtop bottle, as Kwas Litewski / Lithuanian Bread Kvass, from EkoMarket, Bryne. Deep reddish brown colour, large to moderate creamy beige head. Moderate aroma of dark rye bread. Moderately sweet flavour of rye bread and sugar, hints of prunes.

Pours a deep, slightly opaque brown, with a small, short-lived beige head, and an aroma that can only be described as a concoction of sweet, bready malt and gravy browning! Taste-wise it’s like a flat cola, with extra caramel and some yeasty malt. My first Kvass, and very likely my last!

Bottle from Sainsbury's, High Wycombe. My first kvass, so didn't really know what to expect. Dark brown with a beige head and a light but slightly prickly fizz. Tastes of sweet malt, treacle and rye bread. Actually, it's just liquid rye bread in a bottle. There's a slight hint of sour plastic in the aftertaste, but you can easily deal with that by drinking more of the malty goodness. I like rye bread, and I like this, and now I want to drink more kvass!

*LCI Rating overgezet van Ratebeer* Fles thuis geprobeerd met Roelzie. Het is een helder donkerbruin bier met een rode gloed. Het heeft een aroma van toffee. De smaak is zoet, caramel, brood en honing achtig.
