Or whatever the house beer is. I am guessing it’s the most rated beer. Hazy amber thick lasting cream head. Malty worty unfiltered beer that is very interesting and quite delicious. Yeast on aroma. Odd to find a yeast led lager in these parts. Interesting drinkable. But I must get back to Bamberg before the light goes. Hop builds on the finish. Decent

On tap: Deep golden, hazy, stable creamy off-white head, grassy-hoppy nose with slight malty traces; light to medium bodied, sweet-bitter flavour; traces of vegetables in the drier bitter-sweet finish. Quite weak by franconian standards…

On tap at the hotel Gasthof-Hohn, Memmlesdorf - 28/04/12. Slightly hazy amber-brown in colour. Malts and yeast are the mainstay of the nose allied to a little earthy veg smell. Flavour is again malt, some fruits come through also, not citrus maybe peachy/apples - but fairly background in this respect. Light bitterness in the mouth and finishes fairly dry. Would revisit this one.

On tap in Memmelsdorf, 18/07/2012. Slightly hazy gold in colour and appearance, with a billowy, off-white head. Stone fruit aroma with some sweetness and a touch of grassy hop. Sweetish, malt flavour with some more fruit and gently bitter finish. Good.

Herber Hopfenantrunk, markant. 10/10/10/10//10

Hazy amber. Fairly spicy aroma with a hint of toast. Caramel-accented with toast and some dry, slightly herbal hops. One of the maltier examples, almost a Vienna.

(7/2/08) Draught at the brewpub in Memmelsdorf. Cloudy orange. Aroma of malt, some yeasty vegetal notes and hints of caramel and citrus. Sweetish malty flavor with some caramel, faint citrus hints and a slightly drier finish. Medium-bodied.

Sampled draught at Braurei-Gasthof Höhn.
This is one of the three brewpubs on the main street in the tiny village Memmelsdorf. It lies half an hours walk from Merkendorf which only has two breweries. Anyway, Höhn just offeres one beer, which a unfiltered orange coloured lager with a cellary aroma. It has a fresh maltiness and a soft mouthfeel. There are notes of toffee and a finish that has more of maltiness than bitterness.
