Bottle, danke Günther! Red clear amber, a few floaties, low tan head. Light sour grain, a hint smoke and caramel nose. Medium body, chewy. Dark grains, burned wood, light caramel, a bit sour tinge/acid, roast, pleasant ashen retronasal.

Swing-top bottle (750ml): Hazy, deep ruby-amber coloured, small - slowly collapsing - tanned head, moderate to solid sweet caramelly and (wood-fire-) smoky nose with traces of vanilla and wood plus raisins; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, pretty full bodied and a bit sticky; lingering sweet caramelly finish with distinctive traces of (beech-) woodfire, rounded by an increasing bitterness in the aftertaste. Well done. They really know how to handle with beers of higher gravity…

0.75 l bottle from the brewery, best before June 2022. Minimally hazy, deep ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, just slightly smoky, a bit fruity aroma of caramel, raisins, some smoked ham and a touch of nuts. Quite sweet, malty, gently smoky and slightly fruity taste of caramel, raisins, smoked ham and some nuts, followed by a short, slightly bitter, gently smoky finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tasty, well-balanced Bock in which the smoke is just an add-on, not the main flavour.
