Habitus, winner of the 2014 World Beer Cup in the Rye category, is a spicy, crisp, and extremely drinkable double IPA. We use loads of Sterling and Chinook hops in the kettle and hopback (and even more during the dry hop) for intense pine aromatics accentuated by a rye and 2-row malt base for a truly great IPA experience.

Keg at the North Park taproom, SD, 15/11/14. Clear golden with a well appointed off white head. Nose is light pine, citric peel, straw, bitter orange, toasted malt. Taste comprises light grapefruit, mineral notes, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the close. So so for style, lacks depth and hops.

Can from Bottlecraft in SD at home. Bright translucent golden pour with thin creamy head. Looks great. Aroma is mango and pineapple - yum. Taste is similar but lighter than you'd think, despite being, as it says, high gravity. Good bitterness too. Nice palate - heavy enough and a smooth foaminess. Very pleasantly surprised.

On tap at The Beer Company. Lasting head and lacing. Orange amber, very faint aroma, rye sourness and hop bitterness both catch your attention, and there seems te room on the palate for both. Interesting beer.

16oz can pours with a crystal clear gold body that has thin copper hues and supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up grapefruit, tangelo, a bit of mango and spicy hops with a decent degree of malty sweetness in the background. The taste quickly gets into juicy citrus that’s grapefruit, tangelo and tangerine like hop flavor. It then picks up bits of mango mixed with spicy near onion like hoppiness and some bitter hop resin. The resiny hop edge doesn’t fit in all that well with the juicy fruitiness but this doesn’t distract much from this being just a tasty IPA.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours brassy gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is a bit dank with rye spiciness. Med body or better. Flavor is rye, mild caramel, and some earthiness. Lots of flavor here. Finishes slightly sweet malt with a lot of bittering hop that offsets that. Very tasty.
