Habitus, winner of the 2014 World Beer Cup in the Rye category, is a spicy, crisp, and extremely drinkable double IPA. We use loads of Sterling and Chinook hops in the kettle and hopback (and even more during the dry hop) for intense pine aromatics accentuated by a rye and 2-row malt base for a truly great IPA experience.

Can from The Bottle Shop London and drunk at home. Quite a smooth beer, not over carbonated or fizzy. Some sweetness but not too much, a little spicy rye maybe, some good balanced hops, no idea it’s 8% abv. it’s very drinkable. Impressive double ipa. Good hops, good balance, some bitterness, but it’s just really drinkable.

Can from Beets. Hazy golden/amber body with a thick off-white head. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of caramel, peppery hops and pine. Flavour of pineapple, blood orange and honey. Medium body with an oily texture. Light fizz. Nice, but I expected a bit more depth and complexity for the strength.

Draft @ beertemple. Aroma of subtle hops, herbs, malt and caramel. Grassy taste of malt, herbal rye, pine, caramel and malt. Nice, but a bit too malty for my liking.

Sampled from draught @ Beer Temple. Lightly hazy orange color, average sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, sticky resinous hops and some pine. Taste malts, hops, resin, pine bitterness again. Medium body, suitable decent carbonation. Nice, but not top notch.

Can from Stone in Asagaya. Shared at a tasting. Lightly hazy orange with a one-finger head of foam. Lots of citrus and grapefruit on the nose with some orange marmalade and biscuits. Heavy and full-body with average carbonation. Sweet on the palate with a bitter finish. Orange zest and light grass on the finish. Solid enough.

Light amber color. Fairly subdued rye nose with a bit of hop character. Fairly big rye character, fairly malty. Kinda jumps up and then goes no where special.

Draught @ the brewpub, San Diego. Aroma is sweetish and fruity with some candy and caramel. Flavour has gluey tones, some ryeish sweetness, caramel and harsh malt. Also grapefruity and aggressive hops. Finishes with lingering hops. Nice, although a bit too sweet.
