Team tasting at CBJ, thanks to me for the bottle. Near opaque dark brown beer, small but tidy bubbly tan head. Airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Airy dark malts, a mild creamy sweetness and mellow dark chocolate. This has picked up the barrel very well. Oaky vanilla and light wood. A little alcohol spice. Nice fruit white port ripe grape fits in well. Light smooth and semi dry finish. Different and, it works well, very well

Bottle, 13.5%. 2023 version, in celebration of my 20th Ratebeer anniversary. Vanilla and cardamom aroma. Black colour. Small dark brown colour. The flavour is sweet with vanilla and dark coffee notes. Bready with salt liquorice and warming alcohol finish. The alcohol is actually a bit much. Might have benefitted from a year or two in the cellar, but still great.

Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of port barrel, dried fruit, malt, and caramel, and touches of yeast and honey. Roasty and barrellike aftertaste with hints of honey and yeast. Bottle 50 cl. Pours an opaque black with a tiny, tiny rough, brown head. Roasty nose with a wooden touch. Rich, sweet, roasty body with hardly any carbonation. Lovely wood/Port character. In the first sip I get a penetrating metallic note. Fortunately it seeems to disappear. Warming alcohol finish with a sweetness that is borderline cloying. 110323
