For obvious reasons, the Ukrainian kolos could no longer be "schieve"… No, he has to be victorious! Therefore we changed him to simply KOLOS, and she became female.
Juliana Babii, brewer at Pravda Brewery, our friends in Lviv, crossed the Ukrainian-Polish border together with the refugees, to come brew Kolos with us in Brussels. Two days later she returned to her homeland at war, to keep on brewing there despite the horrifying conditions.
Kolos is a refreshing summer beer. She is brewed with wheat, rye, spelt and barley malts, to pay homage to the grain culture of Ukraine. We dry-hopped her with Zachrava, a Ukrainian hop, which makes her floral and spicy in the nose.
The profits of the sale will be donated to a solidarity fund that houses and feeds the massive amounts of refugees that have flood the city of Lviv. By drinking Kolos you will contribute to this fund.
We thank you all in advance for your support!

22/VI/22 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ last choir rehearsal before summer, BB: 26/IV/23, bottled: 26/IV/22 (2022-770)

Pretty cloudy bright yellow to gold beer, big creamy solid white head, very stable, solid, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: clean malt bill up front, grains, hay, biscuit malts, some cow fodder. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter and hoppy start, grassy notes, a bit earthy, spicy, some herbs, a little medicinal even. Aftertaste: very bitter and dry finish, almost a bit of a chemical bitterness, very dry, hoppy, grassy notes, fruity and a little citrusy even, nice one!

Bit one sided... Dry and bitter hops... But not the balance you would aspect from de la Senne.
