Schieve Kolos is a collaboration brewed with our friends -Yuri Zastavny and Marco Cervetti- from the Pravda brewery in Lviv, Ukraine.
It turned out a saison which highlights rustic cereals (spelt, rye and wheat) and has been dryhopped with a Ukrainian hop variety, Zachrava. Her color is blonde with a coppery hue. Her appearance is slightly cloudy and she has a creamy foam. Her nose evokes fresh yeast, cereals and hops. On the palate, there is a particular fruitiness reminiscent of wild strawberries, as well as notes of apricots and white flowers, and a very light touch of nutmeg. She has a delicate and refreshing bitterness, with a pleasantly mellow body.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, orange golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Yeasty fruity, spicy malty, and minimally grassy hoppy aroma, hints of apricot, mirabelle. Taste is yeasty fruity, slightly fruity and grassy hoppy, slightly spicy, pale malty basis, hints of apricot and mirabelle, a touch of mandarine. Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium to fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation. Harmonious and homogeneous, quite refreshing and drinkable - very nice.

Bottle: Poured a yellow color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of rustic malt notes with some peppery notes. Taste is also a mix of rustic malt notes with some peppery yeast notes and light rye presence also noted and some dry hops. Body is a bit thin with some good carbonation. Well made saison but not the biggest fan of Zachrava hops.

Bottle sample at 2023 Mondial de la Biere in Montreal. Slightly hazy yellow color, big fluffy white head with solid lacing. Dusty peppery hay and straw aroma. Taste is dusty light lemon and white pepper. Very nice

(Draught at Brasserie de la Senne, Brussels, 22 Oct 2022) Hazy golden yellow colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of bread, orange, apricots and herbs. Malty, fruity, spicy taste with bread, grain, hay, citrus, apricots and a balanced herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty, complex and refreshing. Very nice.

33cl Fles van De Bierkoning. Mistig-gele kleur, witte kraag. Bloemig, citroen, citroenrasp, licht moutig, droog, bisongras, licht kruidig, vrij bitter. Lichte body. Vrij generiek De La Senne-bier, en dan niet hun beste. Desondanks nog altijd bovengemiddeld goed.
