330ml can from Vanuxeem. Pours very dark brown, thin tan head. Quite a toasty, roasty BIPA like the Black IPAs of yore.. gentle pine, moderate bitter hop.. nicely presented.. decent

Bitter-röstiger, angenehm hopfiger Start. Hohe Süffigkeit, viel Schokolade, etwas trocken. Die Bitterkeit geht in der Röstigkeit etwas verloren, rund, süffig, langer Abgang. Gelungen. 11/11/10/10//10

(Draught at Gist, Brussels, 22 Oct 2023) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of liquorice, espresso, cacao, mint and pine needles. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with liquorice, prunes, coffee, caramel, pine needles, grapefruit, slightly burnt flavours and a balanced citric/piney bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite complex porter, leaning in the black IPA direction. Very nice.

Tap at the surrealist. A opaque black brown coloured pour with a halo go tan head. Charred pine, singed, toasted malts. Flavour is composed of semi sweet piney hop, charred wood, woody roast, robust. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, moderate carbonation.

Tap. Surrealiste. Dark chocolate brown. Sticky tan foam. Looks well. Bit of yer charred grapefruit. Light roast. A little ashy. Taste has robust charred bitterness. Minimal sweetness here. Smooth enough for the ABV. Lingering bitterness to finish. Nice but some more hops required.

T: full malty base, roasted tones, coffee, chocolate, orange, bit herbal, tropical fruits, medium carbonation, bit like black IPA yet very nice all together.

8 April 2023. At Brasserie Surréaliste. Shared with the lovely Anke!

A: cloudy black, small, foamy, beige head.
A: toasted brown bread, espresso, tobacco, earth.
T: sweetish brown bread, toast, chestnut, bitter coffee.
F: dry & bitter earthy hops, tobacco & watered-down espresso.
P: medium body, slick-oily texture, soft carbonation.
Lacks some body; hops don't really shine through here.
