Monarch is a tawny ale with a distinct tropical fruit aroma. We are using Azacca all the way through which will give this beer a delightful mango character. Relatively low bitterness and a short finish make this ale a perfect thirst quencher on a hot summers day (or just as good if grey and raining.)

Cask at the brewery taproom. Poured a clear medium amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is malt, light toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, bready biscuit dough, light sweet treacle toffee, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. God Save the Queen.

Sampled at the brewery. An amber pour with a loose white head; malty aroma with a touch of orange; malty taste with an earthy bitterness. Not one of their best.

Cask at the brewery. Orangey-amber with an off-white head and a light fizz. Caramel, earth, orange, dry leaves, moderate earthy bitterness. A bit grubby but ok. Not one of their better monthlies though.

Cask at Heidrun, HW, 03/06/17. Chestnut brown to amber with a decent light beige head. Nose is caramel, biscuit, dried fruits, orange peel, sweet notes. Taste comprises caramel, light candied fruit peel, cheesecake base, soft stoned fruits. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Fine for the style.
