2014 bottle. Aroma of malt, peat, charred wood, whiskey. Flavour is medium sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Quite peaty, but the rich sweetness adds some balance. Enjoyable.

Bottle from bierhandelwillems, I want to get this rating in before I cannot. Snifter in use tonight. The body is chocolate brown covered with a super thin skim of tawny tan foam. The smell compares to a glass of your finest scotch. And the drink, well, heavy with the whisky and also oak, a bit of subdued figs, dark bread and earth. Not your normal quadrupel but I can appreciate.

I'm sampling from a 37.5 cl bottle obtained from Belgian Happiness last year. Some mighty cool weather tonight, time to have a quad. The glass is a Straffe Hendrik large tulip, I open the bottle before pouring. I see a shiny, dark mahogany body followed by a long lasting skim of khaki tan foam. The nose is inviting, ripe fruit, some peat and yeast. And the drink is likewise good. I get plenty of the whisky, dates, raisins, malt, earth, grain and a bit of hard candy. There is an unexpected bitterness finishing. My second barrel-aged Prearis Grand Cru in two weeks, just to say. I think I prefer this one, more challenging. A few years back, I would have been put off.

10 April 2022. At 14de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter!
Hazy brown, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of band-aid, rubber, tires, peat, earth, leather, raisin. Taste has sweet raisin & fig in a caramelly malt body surrounded by peaty & herbal notes. Herbal hoppy finish with dried fruits, medicinal aspect, lots of peated whisky alcohol but not obnoxious. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Pretty good but also pretty straightforward.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Peat and a hint of iodine dominating the aroma. Malty sweet caramelly flavor with, again, dominating peat. Whisky. Firm, peaty but tasty.
