Handpull cask at the King's Head, Leicester. Middle of the road gold and clear with a quickly dissipating white head. Bready character on the nose, some lighter berry character. Taste is a bit weird. Sweet with some berry overlaid on some soapy UK golden. Medium and slightly oily body with soft carbonation. Not for me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Little Eaton Delvers Drop Elderberry on 30 Mar 2023 at 18:37 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5. Original review text: Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Light to mid-gols and clear with a tiny white head. Tidy little berry aroma, light floral notes, hay. Taste is sweet, lots more berry and loght caramel with a medicinal bitterness pushing through to the finish. Thin body, carbonation more or less at nil. A lot going on here for such a simple beer.

Cask @ Royal Oak, Shrewsbury. Clear gold pour with a full white head. Elderberry coming through on the nose. Biscuity malt base with a nicely integrated elderberry sweetness, fair bitterness. Perhaps tasting a bit tired, not at it's freshest.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Has a fresh fruity aroma – mainly strawberries. Fruity again in the mouth, where the strawberries are joined by raspberries. There are malts too on a base of biscuits, and some bitterness creeps in later. Finish is dry with lemons. Not a bad beer but more a standard bitter than an IPA (nowhere near hoppy enough).
