Sometimes lower ABV pale ales don’t seem to get judged on merit versus their higher alcohol brethren. We thought it would be fun to see how our signature pale ale recipe worked at a dialled up 8%! Double the alcohol, (more than) double the hops...This is DOUBLE BIER.

9/9/2022. Can shared by Matt, cheers. Pours slightly hazy pale orange gold with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma is hoppy, dank, bready malts, orange, flowers, pine. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness, light spicy edge. Medium body, oily, soft carbonation. Slightly abrasive bitter finish, but a good warming sipper.

440ml can. Pours hazed golden orange, good white head. Super bitter and piney, aggressively hoppy with accompanying orangey hop fruit. Quite a big hitter this.

Keg at Brighton Bier House. It pours hazy orangey amber with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet malt - driven affair, bready malts, cake, biscotti, toasted almond. The taste is bitter - sweet, bready, sponge cake, warming alcohol, cereal, chewy malt, bit of spice and earth with drying and chewy finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Very much an English strong as apposed to DIPA.
