Keg at Hackney Church taproom, 02/11/24. Black topped with a khaki cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is dark malts, cacao nibs, charr, spice, roasted tones. Taste comprises roast malts, spice, cocoa sprinkle, burnt toffee, bourbon nip, vinous oak trace. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Okay sipper if lacking some depth.

Draft at the Coracle, Ironbridge. Poured almost black in colour with a round, frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt, toffee fudge, boozy bourbon. The flavour is over moderate sweet, with a silky smooth, rich, roasty, toffee caramel, herbal, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Tasty and very nicely balanced.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Pours an inky black, deep tan head. Prominent bourbon aroma with additional roasted malt. Big whack of liquorice and leather to taste with a long bourbon linger. Slight astringent finish. A touch harsh but quite a big hitter all the same.
Mild bourbon, and a bit of dark fruit up front.

Bottle at home in Hackney in Hackney - picked up at the brewery. Pours black-brown with a staunch, foamy tan head. Medium sweet flavour, nice creamy chocolate character, toasted caramel, subtle roasty bitterness. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Mellow warmth in the finish, more tasty chocolate, mild ashy roast. Drinks very smoothly.
