Invited to brew in the US I wanted to use local ingredients. Agamemnon is an Imperial Stout brewed with maple syrup. Boiled 7 hours.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with no head. The aroma is strong maple and roasted malt. Medium mouth, rich malt, roast, maple, light bitter finish, very good.

Bottle thanks to Marcelo. Pours a jet black color with a medium brown head. A big fruity roasted malt, syrup nose. Wonderful beer. Huge dark fruit, sticky sweet malts, berries, toffee, very viscous palate. Wow. Awesome.

650ml bottle. Black color with brown head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate, coffee, licorice, caramel. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Almost full silky body with soft carbonation.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Dark chocolate and maple aromas. Thick with dark chocolate and licorice upfront. Turning to maple syrup in the lasting, hot finish.

Aroma has strong licorice and licorice root notes. Also hints of syrup. Flavour is sweet with strong licorice notes with some salty notes. Delicious, I love the licorice notes here. Could be even better with less salty licorice, it tries to ruin the show here.

Pours pitch black with a tiny brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, syrup, sweet fruits, licorice and wood. Taste is roasty, sweet and heavy with notes of syrup, licorice, wood, honey and hints of maple syrup. Finish is roasty, salty and malty with notes of dark chocolate, ash, honey, burnt salty licorice, maple syrup and wood. Heavy and sweet, quite massive.

En flaska som stått något år. Smak och doft av mörk, mörk choklad, kornmalt, bourbon, fat, chokladpudding med toner av vanilj, plommon, dadlar och fikon. Rund, len, mycket krämig, viss syrlighet med tydlig beska med smak av bitter mörkchoklad. Välbalanserad, fruktig och kraftfull. Omnipollo, cigarr och grädden på moset - färjan, kan det bli bättre en sommarnatt.

Bottle shared with vtafro. Pours deep dark blackish brown. Nose is fudge and hint of maple. Tastes very chocolaty, some wood, roasted malts, and maple. The syrup adds some sweetness on finish and overall it’s drying.

Bomber bought @ Systembolaget. Pours viscous pitch black with a creamy blackish mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell i sweet and earthy with roasted malts, smoked sausage, burnt caramel, sweet soy sauce, charred wood, salty liquorice candy, leather, alcohol, dark roast coffee, resin and bitter chocolate. Taste is sweet, heavy bitter, slightly salty and earthy with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, maple syrup, ammonium chloride, burnt wood, burnt caramel, smoked sausage, ash, moist soil, resin, pine needles, alcohol and hot stones. Mouthfeel is oily, creamy, round, slightly sticky sweet, roasted astringent and full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, heavy bitter, slightly salty and earthy with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, maple syrup, moist soil, burnt wood, burnt caramel, ammonium chloride, dried pine needles, resinous wood, alcohol and hints of bitter chocolate. Bottle bought at Systembolaget in August 2013. Pours a nice thick black liquid with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and some resin. The mouthfeel was unexpectedly soft with dark chocolate, roasted malt and something sweet. The finish was fairly bitter. A nice one.
