Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Chocolate, caramel, ash and some peat in the aroma. Caramelly sweet flavor with hints of chocolate. Peat coming up in the finish. The peat doesn’t dominate, but adds a bit to the character of the beer. Decent.

Bottle from the Bottle Shop, Cheadle Hulme [041114]
Dark caramel brown, clear, thin rim, little head
Aroma - Peated, aromatic, odd, peated whisky notes, dark medicinal molasses, some dark fruits when the peat dissipates
Taste - Dark sweet malts, peaty malts, woody, dark fruits, smoke, aromatic, dark treacle, odd mishmash...nah this tastes awful
Palate - Thin to medium body, quite sweet, bit thin. Finish as main flavour, soft sweet dark malt
Overall - A wee bit of mess....drain pour... gets a wee mark from me as well...Yuck

Bottle from Real Ale Store Newark and drunk at home. Clear dark brown lasting dark beige head. Dark malt aroma with just a little peat. Rather decent flavour in the mouth. Good malty flavours. Just a tad of peat. Little bit of hop on the finish. Quite fruity. Rather good to be honest.

(bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Slightly ashy dark malty aroma with notes of peat smoke, cacao and sweat. Mildly bitter flavour, light bodied with a modest carbonation. Slim dark malty base with peaty notes and traces of caramel and chocolate; slightly bitter and mildly peaty finish which is also a wee bit slim. Lacks definitely body. 16.IV.14
