I got this 33 cl bottle from a seller in the Netherlands back last year. I like my imperial stouts, ready now to have a taste. My Cowtown snifter comes down out of the cabinet before I take off the cap and pour. Black with a fringe of brown around the edges and then finished with a skinny ring of dark tan foam. The nose is heavy with chocolate and grain and sweet berries. And the drink? Well, I think it is top rate. It comes together with dark chocolate, wheat bread, malt, enough roast to not intrude, caramel, strawberries and a decent bitterness apparently provided by the hops. A substantial presence. No doubt the best imperial stout I have had in some time.

27 August 2022. At Hal 16 (Dok Brewing). Shared with the lovely Anke!

Hazy black, small, foamy, dark beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, burnt caramel, chocolate sauce, hazelnut paste, date, candied plum, brandy. Taste has sweet date, fig & pear in a thick dark-chocolatey, fudge-like, bit nutty, but also brown-sugary malt body, very slight roasted bitterness for balance. Herbal hoppy finish, liquorice note but mainly lingering chocolate sauce, some sweet tobacco and boozy brandy-like alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Moreish, yes, but really misses out on a decent roasted character.

1/VII/22 - on tap @ DOK Brewing Fest (Gent), BB: n/a (2022-808) Thanks to all for sharing the beer!

Clear dark brown to black beer, creamy beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: good roast, a bit yeasty, malty, grains, caramel, lots of ripe to overripe banana, good stuff! MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet and sugary start, good roast, lots of alcohol, bit of chocolate, malty, grain. Aftertaste: more alcohol, roasted, some coffee, bitter finish, dry, decent!
