Bottle looks simple, but good. Beer in the glass very dark, almost black, nice head. Starts strong and malty, notes of chocolate and caramel, modest bitter, some fruity notes of plum. Finish not as strong as the beginning, could be a bit sweeter. Still a great doppelbock!

Bottle from Maruhn, Darmstadt
Beautiful dark amber color, with red shades; generous creamy head. I had more expectations for this beer; indeed the aroma is very simple, some caramel; the body strength is good, but only when the beer warms a bit; quite strong caramel flavor, sweetish. Correct bitterness; the final is also a bit nutty. Easy.

500 ml. bottle. Very dark, arguably mahogany color with an impressive tan head. Aroma is primarily darkish fruit. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor starts much like a porter with some chocolate, but dark plummy fruits come forward. The finish is dry, almost astringent, based on near burnt malt. Drinks extremely well.
