Bottle Pours out a nice brown topped with a off white head. A pretty nice aroma of malt. Tast was not to bad a little malt and spice. I could pick up on the Alcohol pretty easy. Odd for only 7.2%.

Sampler at Cardinal Liquors, Frankfort. Darker gold color. Nice malty smell that carries over to the taste. Slips easily down the throat. Maybe it’s my cold, but I get a little yeast in the palate, too. Still, it’s a good malty beer for a chilly day: whether an early Easter or in the fall.

Bottle, and on tap at Ludwig’s, Charlottesville, VA. Strong taste and aroma of banana. Light head. Some spice and caramel as well. Top-notch doppelbock.

Hazy dark brown color with a creamy tan head. Aroma of caramel and molassas. Heavy caramel flavor with some molassas in the end.

Pours a nice dark brown colour with a big head that disappears quickly though. It has a little sweet aroma and a little roasted , even some fruity aroma. The flavor is also a little sweet, but not to sweet for me. It also has some roasted flavor with a hint of fruit and caramel. It leaves you with a nice warm feeling.

Cream to brown coloured medium head, rather stable; very dark brown beer with some disparate foxy highlights. Soft sweet nose, bit of dark chocolate, a tad soupy, parsley aroma. Sharpish dark malt taste with a dry-grainy touch. Ryebread, retronasal quite some sugar, but still overhung by a roasted malts flavour. Fruit sugar finish. Medium to well bodied, tad empty at the same time, since the restsugars seem to be all in filling the palate. Only after a long time sipping, a warming alcoholfeeling appears. Challenging beer - here’s one that has neither defaults, neither big plusses, and keeps me searching for hidden subtleties, as if I’m missing all its complexity. Strange. Dankeschön, Nat & Pivo.

Bottle. Strong coffee/chocolate malt aroma with hints of dried fruit. Medium brown with small head. Sweet raisin flavor initially with a mild coffee finish. Not as much body as some doppelbocks but enjoyable and easy to drink. Those who like the typical astringency of this style will probably not enjoy this as much.

A red-brown beer with a fine light brown head. The aroma is swet malty with notes of roasted bread. And the flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt as well as roasted bread and ending on a dry note. An OK beer, but somewhat simple for a Doppelbock.

Deep brown, almost black color. A thin head can be coaxed from this with a hard pour down the middle, but it’s a typical Doppelbock head. Rich malty aroma, some alcohol, hints of cherry. Silky smooth, coating the tongue with sweet malt flavor. Some coffee and chocolate flavors as it warms. No alcohol detected, very nice Doppelbock.

Paid $2.39 for a 1 pt. 9oz bottle Deep red/mahogany in color with a nice, fluffy tanish head. Bready and chocolaty malty to the nose. Sweet chocolate and bread in my mouth. Very smooth, leaving almost no aftertaste. Very well rounded good brew. Glad I picked this one up.
