10/9/11/10/11/10

0.33 l bottle from 'Craftbeershop.com', best before March 2023. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a large, foamy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, quite fruity aroma of tropical fruits, blueberry, dark chocolate, coffee and some hazelnut. Gently sweet, malty, quite roasty, moderately fruity taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, roasted hazelnut, blueberry and some tropical fruits, followed by a medium long, quite roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, smooth and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Great BIPA, intense on both ends, very well-brewed.

330ml bottle. Almost black colour with ruby shimmer and average to huge, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty, slightly smoky, minimally chocolately and grainy, dark malty aroma, hints of dark bread, pumpernickel, weak, grassy hoppy overtones, a touch of bramble, juniper berry, laurel. Taste is fairly bitter, grassy hoppy and slightly ashy, smoky, roasty dark malty, slightly mineral and minimally fruity, a touch of bramble, juniper berry, laurel, hints of pumpernickel, subtle residual sweetness. Minimally oily, watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously slightly dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Expected something different - hence slightly disappointing. Relatively roasty and smoky, nice dirty aspects, admitted, similarly quite earthy on the hoppy side and therefore rather unilateral, non-refreshing. Nice smoked hoppy Stout, no BIPA/CDA for me. Very intense. May have to revisit without anticipation.
