The beer has the classic Dubbel style. Dark in colour with a deep reddish hue. The sweet malty and spicy flavours are evident but, these have been further enhanced by the distinctive Rioja aroma and taste of dark fruits from the barrel-ageing process.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Dark brown colour, beige foam head and aroma of biscuit, woody oak, vanilla, red wine. Taste is sweetish, malty, vanilla, oaky, woody, with some dried fruits, red wine notes and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry oaky bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

17/6/2022. Bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle. Shared at the 30th East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear mid-brown with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of red wine, dried fruits, malt, biscuit, wood. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness, touch tart. Medium body, oily creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely woody, tart, winey finish. Very nice.
