Summer is about to end. The craving for AMSTEL though, never! That's why there's the AMSTEL Dark beer, the deep red Bock you enjoy when the darkness comes early. It owes its color and rich taste to malt, which is slowly roasted during its production, but also to the aroma of hops. It has 6% alcohol, but it is as easy to drink as all other AMSTEL beers. It is ideally served at 8-10 ° C, with friends and no dark mood.

Bottle, 6%. Dark brown colour. Unstable light brown head. Malty aroma with some brown sugar. The flavour is roasted and bready. Not sweet. Hard-roasted coffee notes. Dark malt syrup finish, but still quite dry.

0,33 l can from a supermarket in Rhodes town. A darkest red brown, nearly black in the glass, small short living head. Smooth roasted malty on the nose, choco and coffee. Taste has more choco and nuts. Way better than expected.

June 2017: 330 ml bottle, bought in Rhodos. ABV is 6%. Mahogany colour, small beige head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and brown bread. Malty flavour too, slightly sweet, with notes of caramel and brown bread again. Minimal hops. Drinkable, but far from exceptional.

can 6%. now seems to have been renamed, these are the texts on the bottle AMSTEL Dark STRONG BOCK 6% PREMIUM DARK BREW other side has amstel written in greek instead can states it is from www.amstel.gr note it is now called amstel dark (strong bock) or perhaps amstel dark strong bock (premium dark brew) dark brown, smooth light brown head. mild roasted malty aroma. flavor is roasted malts, with a good roast and notes of coffee powder, this could be a mid-strength porter judging from the flavor. Surprisingly nice. aftertaste is also roasted malts. hops are faint and probably generic european stuff i think i’ll check this one out alongside a guinness to see what i like more of those two.
