The taste of this braggot can be overwhelming due to its complexity. The smoky anand coffee like notes of the malts are amplified by the richness of late summer nectars such as Himalayan balsam, buckwheat and thistle.
The first impression is that of a stout with the smoky and velvety mouthfeel. However, this quickly changes into a more wine-like flavour profile with surprisingly light body for a dark drink. In certain vintages like 2022, in which fruity nectars are more predominant, this Braggot turns out particularly refreshing and drinkable even in a warm summer day.

4oz pour at brewery. Pours almost black with tan head. Aroma has a lovely toasted malt and old leather profile. Flavour has tons of toasted, almost burnt, malt up front, leather, some honey underneath. Really nice take on a dry, slightly sour stout.

On tap at Braggot, pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma seems like a sour stout, with leather, subdued honey, and a little roast. Flavour is likewise like a sour stout, with leather, roasted malt, and subdued honey. Nice balanced and structure. Surprisingly nice.

Draft pour enjoyed at Braggot, North Van. Dark, near black appearance. Off white foam ring head. Dark fruit, with some mild honey sweetness. Blackberry character. Soft spice, and a tart linger. Very unique drink, amd very nice.

Amber, soft, honeyish, light fruity, touch of phenols, kicking off bubblegum.

On tap at the source. Good foam on a dark black body. Nice roasted coffee, hoppy biscuit, reminiscent of a dark IPA. Taste is roasted biscuit, slight tart honey, ending smooth but a little thin. Has some promise, could be more bold.
