Bottle at share. Golden / orange pour, small frothy head, almost fizzy. Brett controls the aroma and taste, with notes of citrus. Woody barrel elements play in the background. Light on the palate, mellow.

Plastic corked bottle from Secret Santa, 7% on the label. Pinkish blonde, pours a long lasting foamy head. Wood, lether, lemon and champagne notes in the aroma. Sour bretty lemon flavor with vinous notes. Soft oaky notes. Complex, demanding but delicious.

From Jul 2009.

I received 2 bottles in trade thanks to NutBrown and joe1510. Thanks Alan and Joe!

Served near room temp, maybe I should have chilled it down a bit as I lost an ounce or 2 when I popped the cork.

A hazy straw colour with a huge head of foam, it does settle down fairly quickly leaving some nice lacing.

One whiff and the influence of the Brett is right there with plenty of notes of wheat and some lemon citrus sourness to back it up. A very nice and inviting nose.

The taste starts off wonderfully sour and that has my complete attention. Smack. Yum. On to the light wheat and light lemon zest bitterness to go with the sour and a light dash of an oaky flavour. If you really want to taste how sour this is, try swishing the beer in your mouth. Oh my!

Medium mouthfeel, this is one highly carbonated brew but it works perfectly for me. And....head retention is superb.

Drinkability? I'll have to say....I could drink this all day long! Incredible drinkability because it tastes so damn good and the alcohol is just a number(label says it is 7%abv) and doesn't come into play at all.

Bottom line: I loves me a good American Wild Ale or Sour Ale. Brute is *crazy* good and anyone who appreciates the style must seek this one out. 'nuff said.

Thanks again, Alan and Joe for the opportunity!
Btw, I still have one of the bottles.

Shared 0.75l corked bottle from 2009 #E018 @ NYC flat. This one has a surprisingly near clear looking soft blurry golden colored body with a huge white head. Smells lovely with a acidic nose. Loaded with citrus and sour gooseberries. It's average on the carbonation and nice and oily in the mouth. Tastes really acidic and lemonic. Lots of tartness. Woody and oaky. Amazingly flavorful! A gem! Wish I had more time enjoying this. 19.06.2015

Bottle - E027. Pours cloudy orange, small off-white head, a bit fizzy, some lacing. Aroma is oaky, very oaky, lemon, light Brett and basement funk. Flavor has some sweetness at the start, then light plus tart, medium funk with a rich Brett character, basement and musty leaves, very oaky, hints of lemon. Light plus body with a really fine champagnelike carbonation. Very good.

Bottle - Batch 10 - Light funky lemon, slight tartness. Cloudy yellow with a decent white head. Nice tartness, light soap and funky lemon. Nice. Batch 18 - Tart lemon. Cloudy light gold with a decent white head. Tart lemon and a long finish. Better. Batch 27 - Funk and light. Least amount of character. Batch 37 - Funky and light sourness. More funk in this.

2010 Vintage. 750mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a cloudy golden with a large foamy white head. Aroma brings out complex yeasts, including brett, some lingering sweetness, and vinous notes. Flavour brings out various champagne yeasts, some brett buried underneath, some lingering residual sweetness, and some tangy citrusy notes. Not the most complex, especially given the ratings. Finishes yeasty, tangy and with some slight residual sweetness. Very enjoyable, but underwhelming given the reputation.

Second time having this was in a four year vertical, and I thoroughly enjoyed each version. Upping my rating.
