In the early beginnings of Dugges, this could have been around 2005 or 2006. We had a brewer who tried to brew the strongest beer he could. That attempt ended up a 16% vol. imperial stout, which never saw the light of day. It didn't taste right. Scaling that recipe down, however, it tasted just fine. And it got us to brewing Idjit. One of our most iconic beers.
Fast forward to 2021, and we wanted to reconnect with that ambition of not brewing something big, bigger, or biggest but brewing something mega! So, the mega-series was born. Big 15% vol. adjunct stouts, which had extra everything with even more on top and a side of all you could ever want. And then some.
Weirdly, funnily and/or strangely enough, we've never brewed a clean version. One that really connected to our roots. So, we've rectified that and now gone full circle. We're back, maybe not brewing the strongest beer we can but brewing something really strong. And this time, it tastes just right.

12 April 2025. At ‘t Taphuys, Tilburg. Cheers to mom, dad & Anke!
Jet black, adhesive beige head. Coffee liqueur, Irish coffee, chocolate sauce, dried fig, vague liquorice, cigars. Sweet date & fig in dark-chocolatey maltiness; brownie, bitter coffee, tobacco. Earthy hops, bittersweet and boozy coffee liqueur-like alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Lovely stuff, what a gem amongst all these taps.

On tap at Barrels (Gamla Stan, Barrels), pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has rich dark sugars and moderate roast, with a pretty deep malt character. Flavour is massive, with deep roasted malt, black liquorice, burnt dark sugars, and a bit of umami. Finished with lots of liquorice, dark sugars and roast. Very good.

Bottle picked up from Craftbier webshop and consumed at home Thursday 28th September 2023 listening to Tom Ravenscroft and Deb Grant New Music Fix on 6Music, we had Orzo, Prawns and Feta in a Tomato Sauce. Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours black. Roast malty nose with lots of chocolate. The taste following a similar trajectory but smooth, a little creamy and surprisingly easy drinking for a 15% beer, sweetness is a little bit heavy but regardless it is still very good.
