Porter-oluet ovat peräisin Lontoon jokisatamista. Nämä tummat vahvat oluet kehitettiin sisukkaille joki- ja satamatyöläisille 1900-luvulla, mistä myös Porter-nimi on peräisin. Me olemme lisänneet pehmeään porteriimme oikeaa alkuperäistä suomalaista tervaa Kuhmosta, mikä täydentää tummapaahtoista ja rapeaa makua. On ironista, että kun tervaa vielä tuotettiin Kainuussa suuria määriä ja kuljetettiin Tervan Tietä Ouluun ja sieltä Tukholmaan, se usein myytiin Britannian laivastoihin samoihin aikoihin, kuin porterit siellä kehitettiin. Nämä kaksi tarinaa siis kietoutuvat toisiinsa.

Very thick, almost rosy cream-coloured head over almost black brown beer. Chestnuts, chocolate, herbs, heather, resin. Liquorice in the taste, but drier, cigar ashes, dry wood. Black chocolate, pine needles, resin. Medium bodied, quite slick, chewy. The aftertaste shows strangely enough for 5.4%, some alcohol. Quite special, even original to some extent, light porter. A black beer, a head is big and beige. Aroma had roastiness, smokyness and tar, light chocolate. Taste has roastiness, tar. Medium- bodied. Feels too thin with strong roastiness.

18th October 2023, tasting with minutemat at my place, this was a shared sample from Grumbo. Dark brown, beige head. This is a smoking jacket and slippers sort of Porter, nice!

Sample thanks to Grumbo, shared with blackhaddock. Pours black, thick beige head. Liquorice nose, quite an astringent peaty influence to taste, roast.. the Finnish terva liquorice comes through quite well. Not bad.

24/9/2023. Bottle courtesy of Teemu. Region #431. Finnish region 16/19. Pours pitch black body and a large creamy foamy beige head. Aroma of tar, black treacle, liquorice, dark roasted malts, peat, coffee, black bread. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth, average carbonation. Liked it, though it was a bit heavy going.

Bottled. Brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is nutty, toasted, herbal and some wooden notes. Flavour is nutty, roasted, rye bread and some mild wooden notes.

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Near black, small head. Aroma of coffee and hard toasted bread. Dry with light body and crisp mouthfeel. Fairly low bitterness. Nicely drinkable.
