Bottle. Very dark mahogany to almost black with tan head. Chocolate, licorice, vanilla, zesty Earl Grey tea, rooibos, blackberries, coffee, tar. Very deep and roasted with the rooibos quite present and the barrel ageing a bit more subtle. Solid sweet and bitter, very light sour. Full oily body. I'm not a massive Sans Pardon fan but this is my favorite version so far.

Bottle from Stacks (I assume), as a Christmas present. Hazy black, stable, foamy, beige head. Aroma of green apple (acetaldehyde), bourbon, brambleberry, pralines, coffee bean, black tea, brandy, wet wood. Taste has sweetish brambleberry & prune next to sourish blackcurrant & green apple in a toasty malt body, complemented by bitter espresso and herbal black tea. Herbal & peppery hoppy finish, more pronounced dark character of fondant, wood, vague vanilla, and warming bourbon alcohol. Medium to full body, thin oily texture, soft carbonation. Quite young and untamed, not very roasted but it has its own character.

Bottle. Color: Black, thin mocha head. Aroma: Tart forest fruit, some roasted malt and hints of Bourbon. Taste: Complex mix of red wine, forest fruit, leather, some roasted malt, Bourbon and chocolate. Boozy hints. Moderate tart, light bitterness and sweetness. Just over medium body, just below average carbonation. Dry-ish bittery and fruity, quite boozy finish. Unique, typical DvdK beer.

Pours almost black, and a beige head with pretty good retention. Aroma is not promising: Sourish, bretty, light chocolate and roasty, dried plums. Retronasal clearly brett funk with light sourness and moderate sweetness. Flavour is moderate sweet and somewhat sour and bretty. Medium bodied. Alcohol is warming but not sharp. Finishes with some wood, slightly dry, moderate bitter. In the end not as bad as I expected from the aroma, but not very good either.
