Gravity dispense at the Falcon BF, Wooburn Green, 09/07/16. Light black with a decent khaki head. Nose is light charr, dark toffee, brown bread, cocoa powder. Taste comprises earthy fruit, tobacco, cocoa rub, dark malt, molasses. Light to medium body, soft carbonation, light dryness in the close. Decent flavoursome mild.

Bottle from M&S Stratford and drunk at home. Black deep ruby colour lasting beige head. Bit of buttery malt on the aroma. I love this beer on cask. It’s just not as good in bottle, lacks the mouthfeel. Finish is decent some dark fruits on finish is also good. Nothing offensive. Lacks that wow factor of a cask beer.

Pour is a near black with a average tan head. Aroma is maris otter malt right off the bat. Very earthy with a decent minor chocolate malt in there. Flavor is not thin at all. Again a nice maris otter with a nice fresh grain and biscuit with hints of chocolate peeking out here and there. This is a pretty flavorful low alcohol beer. An old world beer that puts you in the mood to find a nice pub in the cold and rainy English countryside

8th April 2015: hand-pulled pint in the Trafalgar, Ramsey IoM. Black body with a good tanned topping. Malty from the start, it has a solid backbone of chocolate maltiness in the aroma which carries on into the taste, mildly bitter in the finish and almost semi-sweet initially. I liked it, the huge swan neck it was pulled through gave it a good swirl around and once settled it looked a picture.

Aroma has licorice and toffee typical to English ales. Flavour has licorice, mint and toffee. Finishes with ash and coffee. Nice.

A colablack beer with an almost medium and beige head. The aroma is balanced mix of roastiness, coffee and chocolate. Surprisingly rich. Taste is also nice, roastiness, some coffee, hint of chocolate. Unfortunately, the light body is disturbing in the taste, low carbonation. Tasteful and easy beer with a rich flavours.

Cask (Rose of England, Nottingham) - Very dark with some red tinges. Cocoa, roasted malt and blackberries in the aroma. Blackcurrant, blackberries, roasted malt and raisins feature in the taste. A very good mild.
