0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek', best before February 2023. Slightly hazy, ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, gently smoky, quite fruity and slightly resiny aroma of smoked ham, molasses, raisins, pine, prunes and dates. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, rather fruity, gently smoky and slightly resiny taste of molasses, smoked ham, dates, prunes, raisins, some pine and traces of orange peel, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very rich compared to 'only' 6.5% abv, intensely malty, fruity and smoky, saturating mouthfeel as well. Doesn't feel Franconian anymore, rather americanised, but it's a good one nevertheless.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, redd-ish, dark amber colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Smoky, slightly resinous-spicy, mellow malty and minimally fruity hoppy aroma, hints of ham, smoked eel, a touch of wood ashes, juniper berry, laurel, lingonberry. Taste is smoky, slightly mellow malty, minimally herbal spicy, hints of caramel and a touch of chocolate, hints of ham, juniper berry, laurel, lingonberry, wood ashes; lingering, dry, smoky and fruity hoppy finish. Watery texture, dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Extremely well balanced, mild smokiness, rather untypical malty basis for a Rauchbier, somehow slender, additionally relatively fruity - very good!
