Deep chestnut colour, no head. Sweet bread, Pumpernickel in fluid shape. Sweet, bready & leafy, caramel or toffee, even moccha, but quite clean-tasting. Bit flat on the mouthfeel side, medium bodied, but quite slick. Nice, if sweet, but original Bock.

Big brown lasting head with a coarse froth on top. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Fruity syrupy malty aroma with earthy hoppy notes as well as traces of alcohol. Sweet earthy licorice taste, surprisingly faint when cold, but improves as the beer warms. Develops a malty alcoholic bite when warmer. Clean, harmonic palate. Very dry grassy hoppy aftertaste with earthy licorice notes. Really nice, and extremely clean. (0.5l bottle at Cardinal.)

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 7.3%. Colour somewhere between mahogany and black, large and lasting beige head. Moderate but nice aroma of roasted malts and bakery, hints of oak and leather. Very malty and well rounded flavour, medium sweet, notes of mild coffee and black bread. Moderate but sufficient hops, fairly smooth and easy to drink for a 7.3% beer. Nice one!

Bottle at Kachelofen, Bamberg 4/11/07. Almost black with a slight tan head. Aroma of coffee, black fruit and roasted notes. Flavour was sweet with a decent dry finish. Very enjoyable and easy drinking for its strength.

Bottle, 7.3% Quite malty, brown sugar aroma. Clear, very dark brown colour. Small creamy light brown head. The flavour is quite powerful, quite sweet, creamy with lots of malt. Finishes with a little sour alcohol, which is good here, reminding me of liquorice. Late hint of barley bitterness.

9/11/12/10/11/11

Malziger, in Teilen süßer Antrunk. 7/9/9/8/12/9
