Bottle: pours light brown maybe a little reddish with off white head. Aroma is coconut, cocoa, loads of vanilla, loads of caramel. Taste is quite sweet. A little boozy. Caramel is hefty. Stronger than the coconut.

12oz can. $19.99 4pack. Rich, sugary, sweet. Over-the-top brown sugar, coconut. Oaky bourbon candy in there too. Definitely better split between a few people, this is going to take a while to drink 12oz of this dessert monster. Rather delicious, but just too sweet and heavy at times.

coconut does not work as well in a barleywine as in a stout. Amber color, low carbonation. too much alcohol and bourbon character for my taste.

Pours clear amber with minimal head. It smells of caramel, coconut, and alcohol. Are they going for coconut rum? It tastes very sweet with coconut and heavy caramel with some booze. Bourbon barrel aged? I’m not getting that, which is surprising for a beer that spent a year in the barrel. Maybe the barrels were used for other brews first. It’s good in some ways but this is just too overwhelmingly sweet, and I often like strong dessert beers. This is cloying, a rare miss for Three Floyd’s.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a hazy copper to brownish gold with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Bourbon focused nose with oak, toffee and coconut dominating as it warms. More of the same on the palate with rich caramel and toffee, vanilla and coconut mixed bourbon and oak. Decadent stuff here. Lingering warming bourbon on the finish with vanilla, coconut and salted caramel underneath. Great stuff.
