5 May 2024. At De Heeren van Liedekercke. Cheers to Anke’s birthday!

Clear orange, no head. Aroma of dust, old orange peel, cellar, cheese, sweat, wood, walnut, some horseblanket. Taste has sour orange flesh, lemon and green apple complemented by funky hay, leather and lactic acid; some bitter orange peel. Tart finish of woody tannins, bitter walnut and orange peel & zest. Medium body, slick texture, flat carbonation. Unusually bitter; walnut is fairly well implemented here.

Draught Small white rim, fast gone over hazy ochre beer. Indeed! Walnut aroma in force, dried nuts and woodshavings; horseblanket in the background. Complex flavour with vectors from the lambic, from the nuts - and something else, undefinable. Lemony, faint rhubarb, buttermilk (with white walnut). Dry vinosity, bit sherry-like. Light body, but not empty. Refreshing even despite the walnut. One of the better OB lambic tries. When this kind comes out, one cannot blame Gert for trying.

Tap at Cafe Belge. Seems pretty young, lots of haze - NEIPA level. Lots of bretty funk, also med-light general estery fruitiness. The walnut is rather hidden in here, adding only subtle background note. Rather thin body and pretty low carbonation. Good but not great, seems unfinished.

May 18, 2023. On tap at Delirium Cafe - Downstairs, pours a cloudy dark orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out plenty of green peppers, plenty of nutty bitterness, and gentle earthiness. Flavour is very bitter, with nutty grittiness, strong earthiness, and a touch of green pepper. Nutty, gritty, bitter finish. Rough — I guess my sample at MBCC was not an off-batch. May 6, 2023. On tap at MBCC 2023, pours a hazy bright orange with a small white head. Nose is bitter, with lots of green pepper and bitterness. Flavour is very bitter and green, with green pepper. Gently funky, very bitter finish. Something probably wrong here.
